Great day. Just great. Ok maybe not the WHOLE day, but the evening was great!
I had to work today and I got up late so I was late to work and then I had to go to WinCo, which I loathe doing (not to say that I loathe WinCo because I really don't, I just hate that I have to go for work) and then I was supposed to go to the bank but didn't really have that much time, and my goal is to never go to the bank for work. I think it's a good goal. Anyway, I forgot that today is a half-day for the Boise school district, so all the Boise High kids thought it would be cool to come downtown after school. Which meant I got a million and a half prissy little bitchy girls. They were RUDE! How dare you be rude to me you stupid little high school girl! But then the normal downtown kids came in which is always very nice. Like my cousin and Zach and all the other kids I only know because they sit out on the benches on 8th street everyday and it is wonderful.
When I finally left work I went to school. I had choir. We got out audition material. I saw some old friends. Then I went to Karas. They fed me dinner which was nice because otherwise I wouldn't have eaten today except the sandwich my wonderful mother made for me. Then Kara and I went to open mic night out in Meridian.
We've been to this open mic night before. Twice. Just the last two weeks in a row. The guys who work there are really nice. When we got there I had my guitar and one of the guys, I still don't know his name, came up and asked us, "Are you guys playing? I didn't know you were musicians!" It's nice to be remembered.
So we were the last ones to play which was kind of cool. A lot of lame-o's had left which I like. If you ever decide to go, stay for the whole thing! The last hour is really chill. Anyway we played 3 songs. The first one was a song Kara wrote. She sang lead and I played guitar. Then we played a song I wrote and I sang lead and she played guitar. And our last song was a cover of Roses by Meg and Dia. We've been singing this song together for about a year and I guess it shows. It's really fun to play and really fun to sing. When we finished the guy who runs the thing commented on how our voices blend together really well. And his friend said my guitar has a great sound. Gotta love the Ibanez! So it went really well. We got a lot of compliments. We really impressed the guy who played before us. And the kid who works there said we sound really great. We impressed him. Score!
So...I'm thinking playing with your best friend, someone you've known for over 6 years, definitely plays off.
When I got home I told my parents about the whole thing. Then my sister gave me a letter. IT'S FROM SPENCER! Dear Elder Spencer Rogers who left the MTC this week for Germany! What a perfect thing to come home to after playing music for random people. It's the first letter I've gotten from him (course I've only sent him one :)) and it has a picture and everything. SO GREAT!
Soooooo, great day. Tomorrow I guess I officially start school, being as thats when I have real classes. And my vocal jazz audition. So I need to go practice.
have good days,
-kel:)
