Holy geez it has been over a month since I've written a thing. Ok maybe not a thing, just nothing I felt was necessary to post. However, recent events have encouraged an update.
First of all, two weeks ago I started my voice lessons which is just a blessing not at all in disguise. You seriously should see me at these lessons. I walk in (conveniently located in some room with 2 full length mirrors, a table, and a piano in the basement of a very small building) with my stunna-shades, pea-coat, and guitar completely freezing but o so excited to sing. Unfortunately I've only had two lessons, so the singing has been limited just because we've been pressed for time cuz hello, it's the beginning. Of course gotta do the whole breathing thing first. Anyways, none of that is the point. POINT IS...at my last lesson on Wednesday, Brandtley (my teach) was talking about breathing and the correct position and how I should feel the excitement inside me and let me tell you I felt it. I wanted him to just sit down and play some random song I could sing along to. Alas, he did not. I think all that energy has been slowly been spitting out of me all week. Both a blessing and an annoyance. Anyway, we picked a song for me to sing which I will get working on until my music from home gets here. Oh and I didnt mention, Brandtley will work with me on any style of music I want! Lets all say hello to everything from classical, to jazz, to punkpop. MMMMMboy!
Also this week I had a meeting on Wednesday with this guy named Ryan down at the Health and Wellness Center. Not my favorite place to walk in bad weather seeing as it is down the hill past the stadium. I slid absolutely everywhere on Wednesday. It was special. Anyway, I'm going to be doing this volunteer work stuff for credit. WOOHOO! Basically, I have to take this alcohol and drug abuse class (meant for court ordered kids who have recieved MIPs and such) once a week for 2 hours for 6 weeks. It won't be too terrible because my friend Amber is teaching it and I'm all about the knowledge. Anyway, while we're doing this I'll be on a committee type thing that plans events on campus and in town. Things like Healthy Relationships Week in February, and the Walk-A-Mile thing in spring. There's others, though I can't remember them. It will be cool because I like planning events and working with people. Another plus is basically everyone volunteering is a psychology major and I'm the only journalism major which means I get to do some extra work designing brochures and setting up bulletin boards and probably having a hand in the design of the new webpage for the center. AH FINALLY! I get to put my not-so-well-known talents to work. And to top it all off, I'm going to take a sample of everything I do and put it into a portfolio which I will then use to help me land internships. Especially at Alternative Press.
Speaking of Alternative Press, I purchased my tickets to the tours show in Salt Lake! I couldn't be more excited. The Rocket Summer and All Time Low co-headlining with guests The Matches, Sonny, and Forever The Sickest Kid. mmmmm I am excited for March. And on top of that, March will also be holding the Meg and Dia with Angels and Airwaves concert AND Jose Gonzalez. Plus spring break. woohoo! Kids, March will be awesome. But first I've got to get through this month. That won't be too terrible. RYAN COMES ON THURSDAY!
Mmmmboy. Excitements lay ahead.
have good days :)
