- Dramatization: the act of dramatizing
- Dramatizing: to express or represent vividly, emotionally, or strikingly
It seems to me that nowadays, everything is dramatic; online communities and the media most particularily. People are spending their lives searching thesauruses looking for the worlds most complicating term to express, well everything. Not that the capability for any individual to actually USE a thesaurus is a bad thing, in fact it's quite a good reference to have by your side, but its increased usage to express the simplest of ideas and feelings is both striking, and old. To make matters worse, I find that many individuals attempting this trade aren't educated in the English language, so instead we are faced with incorrect terminology. But, there are the seldom few that do understand the power of the words they use. For this I am grateful; the vivid usage is creating a world that will go far beyond the preconvieved ideas that all of Americas young adults are dolts.
However, what happens when these complex words just don't cut it? What happens when all I have to say is, "You disappoint me. I am not impressed"? Do the words loose their meaning because I'm not writing, "I am a fool for believing in your fantastic illusion. You do not arouse my consciousness"? Does my sometimes simple point of view have less of an impact? Or is the simplicity MORE moving? Have we finally entered a time where less really is more? I've moved towards creative wording with lyrical writing, but when it comes to my normal life, these basic and clear words are more striking than any writer could ever create.
I am a girl of many words, but forget the decoration. You disappoint me. I am not impressed.
